The next stage of mini tennis is aimed at tennis players of 8/9 years old. Players use an orange, low pressurised, tennis ball on a smaller version of the full tennis court.

Game Plan Sports have a full orange ball programme on offer for those who have never hit a ball, to those striving to play at a county or national standard.

Children can start off in our beginners squads and progress through the different stages…

Beginner - Learning the game, showing an interest in tennis

Development - Developing technical & tactical skills, learning to compete & aspiring to play for the club

Academy - Aspiring to complete at county level / national level. Will be competing regularly externally

ABOUT ORANGE BALL:

Q: What ball is used?

A: An orange ball is used which is 50% slower than a yellow ball, giving players better control at this important stage of development.

Q: What size court is orange ball played on?

A: Mini Tennis Orange is played on a 18m x 6.5m court (marked out on a full size court).

Q: What height is the net?

A: The net is at a height of 80cm (in the middle).

Q: What racket is best to use?

A: A racket of 58cm - 63cm (23” - 25”) should be used depending on the size and strength of the player.
